Bonobo

Oli and I went to go and see Bonobo play at The Sage Gateshead last night. We walked down through town so that we could cross the millennium bridge, but had to wait as it was up to let a boat through. Its the first time I've seen it in action - quite an impressive sight!

My mum had given us some money to go and celebrate my acceptance into UNSW with, so we went up to the cocktail bar called Six on the top floor of the Baltic and have some very overpriced cocktails. After a little wait we managed to get the best table and ordered, and sat overlooking the tyne and the city as the sun set. We'd had a bit of an emotional evening the night before so it was really nice to just be able to enjoy ourselves and begin using the time we still have left together to have fun and make the most of this last month and a bit.

After a few too many cocktails we suddenly realised we were probably missing Bonobo and scuttled off along the quayside to the Sage. Sadly we missed the whole of the support act (The 14th) and 15mins of his set, which was kinda annoying, however the rest of it made up for it. It was amazing to be in such an incredible venue, going to the Sage was definitely on my Newcastle bucket list and I'm so glad I've finally been. As it's a concert hall, it's go amazing acoustics and Bonobo filled the room with their incredible sound. Their live set up created such a good sound and I loved the versatility of the musicians - they seemed to be able to pick up any instrument and just play it!
Our seats were on the top level a the side, which don't sound great but were actually really good as we could see the stage really well and all of the rest of the audience which gave us an amazing sense of the atmosphere. By the end, everyone had left their seats and was dancing nearer the front!

Afterwards Ol and I headed back over the river and had one last drink at the Pitcher and Piano before heading back up to this halls for bed. Such a good evening. Would definitely recommend going to see Bonobo if you get the chance...! One of the best live acts I've ever seen.

This was his opening with his new single Cirrus:
